Flirting with Disaster

Just got in from a grueling trip to SouthEast Asia.  Something like SFO-Hong Kong-Singapore-Bangkok-Singapore-Jakarta-Singapore-Hong Kong-SFO!

I just averted the following disasters and potential for massive trip mayhem:

1. I arrived in Hong Kong last week just as they were under Typhoon warning, which hit in full force 48 hours after I had been there and was gone before I came through today ….

2. I left Bangkok 2 days before massive demonstrations against the current PM (seen to be a crony of Thaksin who is in exile in London) shut down the government and the city after they stormed the palace

3. In Jakarta, they had a 6.6 magnitude earthquake after I left there, no damage to the city really, just shaken buildings and tsunami warning off the coast

4.  Then, the US air traffic control system gets almost shut down due to computer glitches that stops or delays flights across the country – except they priortize International flights and we get into SFO this afternoon without problems.

Yay and Whooo Hooo! Flirting with Disaster – song by Molly Hatchett!
